Is this your freedom?

A facebook post
About a fake happiness
A hundred "Likes"
Is that your freedom?

A grand wedding
A signed contract
With a strange roommate
Is that your freedom?

A perfect portrait
A flawless smile
With a broken heart
Is that your freedom?

A gentleman in suit
A lady in black
A perfect couple
That was not meant-to-be
Is that their freedom?

Who knows?...

“Liberation, I guess, is everybody getting what they think they want, without knowing the whole truth. Or in other words, liberation finally amounts to being free from things we don’t like in order to be enslaved by things we approve of.”

honestly what came to mind when I read the Fulghum quote above is the women lib movement of the late 1970s, especially the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) which ended in a fizzle because not enough states ratified the measure, and President Carter was on the fence about the whole idea; those pushing the ultra-feminist agenda like Gloria Steinem tended to marginalize, in my opinion, the homemaker in America; the famous Phyllis Schlafly, a Republican party woman and leader was worried that ERA would institute military draft for women and also would result in public unisex bathroom situations which would be abhorrent to the average female. For myself, I am all for women and their rights with a common sense approach based on respect and honor due them as mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, and even military and police members, etc.; the exploitation of women as seen in human trafficking and the sex industry (porn) is a national disgrace in my eyes.
